Dreaming of a Laundry Room

When I lived in California, I had my washer and dryer in the garage. In a way it was great, because I didn't have to keep it neat. But, I didn't like having to go to the garage when it was too hot, or too cold. Anyway, it was the garage where there are creepy crawlies that could get into my clothes!

Here in Texas, I have an actual laundry room!! Woooo Hoooo for me! But, it's not ideal and some day I'm going to paint it yellow, add white cabinets, and a utility sink.  Hopefully it will be this year, but you know how life gets in the way of plans sometimes.

Anyway, on my last shopping trip I found these adorable dish towels. They're birds (love that), they're yellow (the future color of the room), and they're doing what I do almost every day (washing and ironing). They're perfect!!

I'm going to hang two of them from the cabinet doors under the sink.  So cute!!

There are three of them, but I'm only keeping two (I think).   I know I've said it over and over, but I sure do love these hand embroidered linens. So much love went into making them. It's only fair that they get to be enjoyed for years and years.

Blessings,
Patricia :o)

absolutely agree. I know that I get a lot of pleasure from my vintage linens (I keep the ones that have a wee hole or stain, doesn't bother me)

Love your vintage tea towels..and congratulations on getting your laundry room. I have cases of vintage linens I bought and planned to sell but have never gotten around to listing them anywhere. Every time I go thru them I find pieces I want to use and off they go to be freshly washed and ironed. Enjoy!

What sweet little embroideries. I'm addicted to them too and cannot walk past a market stall with hand stitched linen. I have so much stored away. I need at least six more tables in this house.

Very cute! Since my Hubby does the laundry here I don't think he'd want such cuties there...but my laundry room is yellow with white cabinets!

Hello Patricia- You are a woman after my own heart! I too love my vintage linens and I am in the process of washing all of the ones that I have collected the past few years. I recently finished hand washing about 150 pairs of vintage ladies gloves (UGH!), and, thankfully, I was able to sell some of them to a wonderful lady at a recent show. I am so excited that I found your lovely blog! I'm so glad that there are others out there who appreciate all of the love and hard work that went into these timeless treasures, and that want to preserve and share them as you do!
I have added you to my list of favorite blogs. I'm looking forward to seeing many more of your wonderful linen treasures.

We are both thinking the same color scheme...lol! I am going to have kitchen cabinets made in May so I'll just paint the old cabinets white and put them up the laundry room. I do need that space for sure!

What adorable little birds! I would never have thought to embroider them yellow, but I really do like them.

Hello...I saw a comment you made on Miss Mustard Seed about bleaching drop cloths in a front-loader. Did you ever try it? I was hoping you have so you could tell me what to do! I am so happy I found your lovely blog. I love vintage linens...I can't wait to look around some more and see what you have. Nice to meet you! ~Ann

I have just found your blog and really envy you the laundry room. Sounds as though it is something I really need (not just want!). You also have some great ideas for re-using linens so I will follow with interest.

The birdie dishtowels are adorable!! Love them! I know what you mean about wanting a real laundry room! Mine is in the basement. Thankfully it does have a big window and not many creepy crawlies.

Love those teatowels! I often wonder why Americans always use dryers instead of hanging washing out in the sun to dry as we do in Australia? I have a dryer, but only use it in winter when it is cold and wet. I love the smell of linens and clothes when they've been out in the fresh air and sunshine.
