Lost Maples Canyon

This weekend we took a short (1 hour) drive to Vanderpool, a town about 70 miles from San Antonio. We hear that there are beautiful trees that are turning color in a state park called Los Maples Canyon. We love trees, so we took a drive. Here are some of the beautiful leaves and trees we saw.

We've lived in Texas for a little over a year now, and this was the first time we saw a live armadillo. It was so much bigger than I thought they were! He stuck around for a long time rooting around for grubs, but he wouldn't turn and face us. So all we got pictures of was his tail end.

This is my hubby and I. My two kids came with us, too, and we had tons of fun. Lots of laughing and being silly. It was such a great day, and a beautiful place to visit. We'll be back for sure!

Well what a beautiful couple you are! I would be so excited to see that armadillo! I have always loved seeing wildlife and especially something so unusual! Up here in Michigan the leaves are gone and we have our first snow on the ground.

I just loved seeing you and your husband. You look so sweet together.

We have armadillos around here, too, but I've never seen one that large. Yikes! We have a small one and the area around our home is part of his territory. We call him Tank.

I thought of you today as I began making two aprons for my Mom & Sister. They are just the kind of thing you would like. I'll try to post them when I'm done.

Wishing you joy,
Lea

Patricia: I've never been there~ and look what I've missed~ it's gorgeous! Did the kiddos take the photo of their beautiful mom and handsome dad? What fun. Hmmm, I don't think I've seen a live armadillo either...mostly road kill.

Loved this post!

We are new to Texas too, and I have never seen a live Armadillo yet! You really got lucky...I think I might be scared of a live one. We are in the Dallas area transplanted from CA! If you get a chance, please stop by. Love your vintage linens! ~Cheryl
